Direct primary care (DPC) is an innovative way to practice primary care. In DPC, patients have better access to high-quality care with a flat, affordable membership fee. There is no insurance billing or RVU generation. The defining element of DPC is a trusting relationship between patient and doctor, with the physician accountable solely to the patient.
DPC has been celebrated by patients, physicians, and policymakers on both sides of the political aisle for improving health outcomes, lowering costs, improving the patient experience, and reducing physician burnout.
